Coffees from Burundi always stun us with their balance between bright red fruit notes, silky florality and deep tea complexity. We're so proud to partner with JNP Coffee for another season to bring you Turihamwe. We taste green apple, red fruit and a hint of vanilla.
Turihamwe means “together” in Kirundi. This coffee is the product of efforts of seven women coffee producers who pooled their savings from coffee premiums (paid for higher quality coffee cherry) to build their own wet mill. This enables them to decrease dependency on other wet mills and expands their ability to control the quality of their coffee beyond harvest. Their wet mill processes their own cherry along with cherries from neighboring producers.
About JNP Coffee:
JNP Coffee sources exceptional coffees grown in the mountains of Burundi that are notable for their pleasant brightness, and fruit and floral characteristics. All of our coffees are small production lots prized by experts and by coffee lovers. The quality is genuine and pure.
Our growers at origin are our partners. We recognize the quality they achieve and pay for the value. We support growers by sharing knowledge, encouraging pioneering efforts, and promoting good stewardship of the environment. We practice transparency by knowing the farmers we work with and the coffee they produce.
JNP Coffee believes that coffee can create a sustainable future for the people of Burundi, especially women and youth, who strive to achieve dreams and successes of their own. Our goal is to be a model for the next generation of coffee companies and growers, ready to participate in inclusive, people-centered economic development. We are guided by the belief that we are here to make a difference.
