Looking for a coffee to enjoy everyday that's consistent, comforting, and familiar? Behold our year-round Token Dark Roast featuring coffee from Miriam Monteiro de Aguiar.

This roast is easy to drink everyday, any way. Think about the nostalgic characteristics of coffee: chocolatey, rich, nutty. They’re all here in this medium-dark roast that emphasizes sweetness with a hint of dried fruit brightness. Whether you drink your pour-overs black or add some oat milk to your french press brew, we think you'll love this blend.

Miriam Monteiro de Aguiar has a well-known last name in the Campo das Vertentes region. Historical records show that her great, great, grandfather was among the first to own a coffee farm in the region. Miriam represents the fifth generation of coffee farmers and the first woman to run the family farm.

Fazenda Cachoeria is a leader in organic coffee production and Miriam had a lot to do with the family moving in this direction. When she and her husband, Rogerio decided to move from the city back to the farm where she grew up, they decided to grow organic vegetables along with coffee on a small plot of land. Her father told her that if she were successful, then he too would convert some of his coffee farm to organic production.

For the past thirty years the family has continued to increase the volume of organic
production. They produce micro lots for the specialty coffee market. Miriam graduated in sociology and holds a master’s degree in rural business and social development. She has put her education and skills to work in ensuring that others have opportunities. She is the founder of the sub chapter of the International Women’s Coffee Alliance /Campo das Vertentes. She recently launched a socially responsibility green coffee export company, Apará Especiais and has partnered with BD Imports to help build greater visibility and opportunities for Black Brazilian coffee farmers.
